This week consists of a second meeting with my group to working on our designs for the group project.  I think we are all starting to get a better understanding of the steps involved, now it is just figuring out how to code and get SAP to do what we want.  This should be interesting since none of us really work with the messaging part of SAP or object oriented programming in our daily jobs.

I wasn't fortunate enough to escape the snow over spring break, so I had plenty of time to work on homework.  I am pretty much finished with my term paper and just need to work on the formatting.  I actually kind of enjoyed the research on my topic (EAI and Data Quality) since it relates to what I currently am working on at my job.  I work in a primarly oracle data warehousing environment, so it was interesting to see how other companies with more of an EAI approach integrate data quality testing in to their environments.  I am hoping to get the formatting done this weekend so I am free to concentrate on our group project.

I just completed lab 3.  Part A was easy and made sense to me.  Part B was easy to complete based on the instructions, but I don't completely understand what is going.  I will have to take another look in a day or two and see if I can make it make more sense.  I don't know if it is cause a lot of the names are so similar or if it is that there are just so many pieces to fit together, but it is one jumbled mess to me right now.

Other than that, I have been doing some research on my topic and hope to get started on my paper this weekend.  Have a great spring break!

With the mention of the midterm in this weeks class, it's nice to see we're nearing the midpoint of the semester.  Hopefully some decent weather and temperatures will start to make their way here!  Anyway, I plan to take the midterm on Saturday and then start in on my paper.  I'd like to atleast get started since I can kind of be a procrastinator when it comes to the writing portion of classes.  Other than that, it looks like we have another lab next week.  I am excited to get in to SAP farther and see what it can.

It was a nice break to get back in to the lab and to finally see the much talked about SAP tool.  From my first brush with the tool, it seems fairly easy to used and understand how to do things.  Of course, this could be because we also had directions to follow!  I am looking forward to working more with SAP and seeing the extent of what it can do.

Missed this week of class due to the fact that I wasn't feeling well.  I figured it was probably better that I didn't bring all my germs with me to class to share.  I have read through the chapters pertaining to the 2/18 class and the notes, but don't feel that I have a good understanding of it all.  I plan to go back through atleast the notes this weekend.

In the meantime, I have gone ahead and read the next article on the Health Service industry.  Being that I work in insurance (the supposed "bad guy" when it comes to medical services), it was interesting to see that the industry is slightly slow compared to most as far as integrating systems.  Since there is such necessity in sharing medical records when seeing more than one doctor or when in for hospital stay, I would have thought this is something that would have been farther along.

This week was a bit more interesting.  XML is something I am familiar with from a recent project at work (and previous class experience), but I am not too familiar with the xslt and xsd file.  The exercise provided on the website gives a nice example of how they all work together.  I also found lab 1 interesting.  I have not worked with websites/webservice, so this is all new to me.  I am curious to find out what is all going on behind the scenes and how all the pieces work together.

Week 2---I have now ventured in to reading the book and think it gives a nice overview of the concepts.  Whether that is how the whole book is or the way it is just starting out, we will see.

On another note.  I am having issues creating a test website.  After I put in my sba login and password, I get the error:  Unable to create the Web 'http://www.746.sba.uwm.edu/kmbozora/testWebSite.'  Server error:  The server extensions were unable to access the file "frontpg.lck."  Please check the file permissions.    Is any one else getting this?  Any suggestions?

Not much to say since it is only the first week.  I am looking forward to learning about SAP since it is something that we don't currently use at the company I work for and since I have heard it mentioned alot in the business world.  Should be interesting....
